The well being of the economy is critical to Obama’s election prospect. A report out today from the Labour Department (11 Oct) will lift his re-election prospects. The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits declined last week to its lowest level for more than four and a half years. The coming weeks will determine whether this unexpected drop is due to seasonal biases. However for now the overall trend for new claimants is in decline, which will surely be a boost for the Obama camp.
